Hailing from the beautiful nation of Sierra Leone, I have been living and working in China for over a decade. I am a TV presenter, actor, documentary maker, show host, published author, educator, and motivational speaker. Being active in grassroots organizations that focus on African development and the reputation of Africans in China is a passion of mine. I strongly believe in the positive rebranding of my country and the continent I call home, not only in China but globally. My home country Sierra Leone is a beautiful tropical country in West Africa, on the Atlantic coast between Guinea and Liberia. Apart from the hilly Freetown area and white-sand beaches, it is mainly swampy coastal plains and plateaux rising to uplands in the northeast. Sierra Leone is well known for its vast endowment in minerals which include diamonds, rutile, bauxite, gold, iron ore, limonite, platinum, chromite, coltan, tantalite, columbite, and zircon, as well as promising petroleum potential.

我来自美丽的塞拉利昂，已经在中国生活和工作了10多年。我是一名电视节目主持人、演员、纪录片制作人、节目主持人、出版作家、教育工作者和励志演说家。积极参与和关注非洲发展和非洲人在中国的基层组织是我的激情所在。我坚信，我的国家和我称之为故乡的非洲大陆不仅在中国，而且在全球范围内都将积极重塑。我的祖国塞拉利昂是西非一个美丽的热带国家，位于几内亚和利比里亚之间的大西洋海岸。除了多山的弗里敦地区和白色沙滩，它主要是沼泽海岸平原和高原，在东北部上升到高地。塞拉利昂以其丰富的矿产资源而闻名，包括钻石、金红石、铝土矿、黄金、铁矿石、褐铁矿、铂、铬铁矿、钶钽铁矿、钽铁矿和锆石，以及有潜力的石油资源。

Ten years after the independence of Sierra Leone, the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Sierra Leone established diplomatic relations on July 29, 1971. This year will be the 51st anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. In an interview with Xinhua News, Sierra Leone's Ambassador to the People's Republic of China had the following to say: "For half a century since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Sierra Leone and China, despite the changing international sphere, the bilateral relations have held strong, and the two nations have maintained a high level of mutual trust and genuine friendship with tangible developmental result. People-to-people bonds play a vital role in building the China-Sierra Leone shared future. Driven by the Belt and Road Initiative, our two countries have carried out pragmatic cooperation in the fields of culture, investment, economy, trade, infrastructure, and agriculture, strengthening the friendship between Chinese and Sierra Leonean people."

塞拉利昂独立十年后，中华人民共和国与塞拉利昂共和国于1971年7月29日建立外交关系。今年是两国建交51周年。塞拉利昂驻中华人民共和国大使在接受新华社采访时说：“塞中建交半个世纪以来，尽管国际领域不断变化，但两国关系始终保持着牢固的势头，两国保持着高度互信和真诚友谊，取得了实实在在的发展成果。民间纽带在建设中塞共同未来中发挥着重要作用。在“一带一路”倡议的推动下，两国在文化、投资、经贸、基础设施、农业等领域开展务实合作，增进了中塞人民友谊。"

I believe that with continued hard work, relations between my country and China will only grow to impact the growth of both countries positively. Human capital development continues to play a critical role in Sierra Leone's development, which has resulted in thousands of scholarships being offered to young Sierra Leoneans to pursue their higher education in China.

我相信，通过持续的努力，我的国家和中国之间的关系只会对两国的发展产生积极的影响。人力资本发展继续在塞拉利昂的发展中发挥着关键作用，塞拉利昂向年轻人提供了数千份奖学金，让他们在中国接受高等教育。

I am the perfect example of my country investing in its human capital. Due to the good relations between China and Sierra Leone, over ten years ago, I was given the opportunity to come to China and develop my skills. I have now become a multi-talented professional who has won several accolades for my stellar work across several continents, countries and use of multiple languages. My name has now taken a prominent spot in the education history of Sierra Leone through my excellent grades made from primary to secondary school. Additionally, I have mastered the Chinese mandarin language and now can use English, Mandarin, and Krio to communicate fluently. I am also learning German and Korean. Currently, I work as a TV Presenter at StarTimes headquarters in Beijing, China. StarTimes is the leading digital-TV operator in Africa, serving nearly 10 million subscribers, covering 90% of the continent's population, founded by Chinese engineer Pang Xingxing. I think StarTimes is a perfect example of what  Africa-China  relations mean. A shared development for multiple stakeholders across various industries.

我就是一个我国投资人力资本的很好例子。10多年前，由于中国和塞拉利昂之间的良好关系，我有机会来到中国学习技能。我现在已经成长为一名掌握多种技艺的专业人士。由于我在多个国家和地方的努力工作以及多种语言的使用，因此获得了多项荣誉。由于我从小学到中学的优异成绩，我的名字现在在塞拉利昂教育史上占有突出地位。此外，我已经熟练地掌握了中文，能流利地用英语、中文和克里奥语与人交流，同时还在学习德语和韩语。目前，我在《四达时代》北京总部担任电视节目主持人。《四达时代》是非洲领先的数字电视运营商，由中国工程师彭兴兴创建，为近1000万用户提供服务，覆盖非洲大陆90%的人口。我认为《四达时代》是一个完美的例子，说明了中非关系的意义。为不同行业的多个利益相关者共享开发。

In September 2018, the President of Sierra Leone, H.E. Julius Maada Bio, and the First Lady of Sierra Leone visited StarTimes during his official visit to the People's Republic of China. During his visit, StarTimes pledged to donate several projector TVs to 50 Sierra Leonean rural villages, enabling them to watch wonderful digital TV programs. Two years later, I had the esteemed honor to interview the Ambassador of Sierra Leone to the People's Republic of China, H.E. Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, at the height of the Covid 19 pandemic. I thank StarTimes for giving me these various opportunities to be the ambassador of youth development between our two countries.

2018年9月，塞拉利昂总统朱利叶斯·马达·比奥阁下和夫人在对中华人民共和国进行正式访问期间，访问了《四达时代》。在访问期间，《四达时代》承诺向50个塞拉利昂农村捐赠数台投影仪电视，使他们能够观看精彩的数字电视节目。两年后，在新冠肺炎疫情最严重的时候，我荣幸地采访了塞拉利昂驻中华人民共和国大使欧内斯特·姆巴姆巴恩多马希纳阁下。我感谢《四达时代》给我这些机会，让我成为我们两国青年发展的大使。

In China, I have learned about the fighting spirit of the younger generation and how they persevere to achieve their dreams. These are lessons I learned from my hard-working colleagues. Their fighting spirit influenced my professional development. The most important lesson I have learned in China is that patience and hard work are critical to any achievement.

在中国，我学到了年轻一代如何坚持不懈地去实现梦想的奋斗精神，这是我从我周边的努力工作专业人士身边学到的，他们的奋斗精神推动着我的发展和成长。这是我在中国最重要的收获，耐心和努力工作是取得任何成就的关键。

Although my initial journey in China was a bit difficult, I learned a lot of valuable lessons during the process. Now being able to work alongside globally renowned TV, movie, and sports stars, such as Mike Tyson, Steven Seagal, and Yao Ming, to name a few, has helped me understand that journey. Seize every opportunity and never limit yourself.

虽然我在中国的最初旅程有些艰难，但在这个过程中我学到了许多有价值的东西。现在能够与全球知名的电视、电影和体育明星合作，比如迈克·泰森、史蒂文·西格尔和姚明，等等，让我明白了这一点。抓住每一个机会，永远不要限制自己。
