China and Kenya enjoy a mutually beneficial bilateral relationship dating back to 1963 when Kenya gained independence, making China the fourth country to open an embassy in Kenya's capital city, Nairobi. Since then, Kenya and China have signed many agreements that have strengthened trade between the two countries. In 1980, Kenya and China established a partnership focused on cultural and educational exchange in higher education. The target areas of this agreement are:

1. China providing educational and teaching resources to Kenya's Egerton University and sharing the achievements of Chinese language education

2. China and Kenya to promote educational and cultural exchanges.

Kenya is located in Eastern Africa, bordering the Indian Ocean, between Somalia and Tanzania.

1963年肯尼亚独立后，中国和肯尼亚就建立了互利互惠的双边外交关系。中国成为第四个在肯尼亚首都内罗毕设立大使馆的国家。从那时起，肯尼亚和中国签署了许多协议，不断加强两国之间各个领域的合作。1980年，肯尼亚和中国建立了以高等教育文化交流为重点的伙伴关系，合作的目标领域包括两个方面，一是中国为肯尼亚埃格顿大学提供教育和教学资源，分享中国语言教育成果，二是促进两国教育文化交流。

Further education partnerships continued from 1982. In 1982, China started providing at least ten scholarship opportunities to Kenyan students annually. By 2002 the total number of Kenyan students studying in China was 52. Since then, a growing number of people from Kenya have come to China to study. In 2015 over 60,000 Kenyans have received training opportunities from China, and over 2400 Kenyans are currently studying in China. Another important sign of good collaboration is the establishment of outstanding structures that mark education ties between Kenya and China in the form of the China-Africa Joint Research Center and China –Kenya Joint Laboratory for Crop Molecular Biology, which operates well in Kenya.

从1982年开始，中国和肯尼亚的教育伙伴关系得到了进一步的发展。1982年，中国开始每年向肯尼亚提供至少10个奖学金名额。截至2002年，肯尼亚在华留学生总数为52人。此后，肯尼亚来到中国学习的人越来越多，特别是2015年以来，六万多肯尼亚人在中国接受教育和培训，2400多肯尼亚人在中国学习。一个重要标志是，成立了肯尼亚和中国合作的杰出机构，包括中非联合研究中心、中国－肯尼亚作物分子生物学联合实验室，该实验室在肯尼亚运行良好。

Over the past 58 years of established Sino-Kenyan diplomatic relations, the Chinese diaspora in Kenya has grown significantly. They have had a profound impact on socio-cultural shifts in Kenya, including the introduction of the Chinese language, interracial marriages, and increasingly visible Chinese work ethics. The emergence of large numbers of Chinese restaurants has brought about the influence of the Chinese culture's impact on Kenyan society. In Kenya, the Chinese diaspora has learned how to communicate in local Kenyan languages. This is a true example of how different cultures learn and work side by side. The Chinese diaspora in Kenya has genuinely assimilated into the Kenyan culture. 

中肯建交58年来，肯尼亚的中国公民人数显著增加。他们对肯尼亚的社会文化转变产生了深刻影响，包括汉语和中餐以及跨种族婚姻进入人们的日常生活，中华文化的职业道德也日益显现出来。大批中餐馆的涌现，产生了中国文化对肯尼亚社会的影响。在肯尼亚，中国侨民学会了如何用当地的肯尼亚语言交流。这是不同文化如何相互包容和借鉴的真实例子。在肯尼亚的华人已经真正融入了肯尼亚的文化。

A little-known fact about Kenya is that Kenya shared ties with China long before Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama toured the coast of the East African country in 1498, with contacts between China and Kenya dating back to 1415. This is indicated by the rich culture displayed in the little-known “Siyu Village” in Kenya.

关于肯尼亚的一个鲜为人知的事实是，早在1498年葡萄牙探险家瓦斯科·达伽马（Vasco da Gama）访问东非国家海岸之前，肯尼亚就与中国有着密切的关系，中国和肯尼亚的交往可以追溯到1415年，肯尼亚的Siyu村丰富的文化充分表明了这一点。

Chinese martial arts and mandarin have gained massive popularity in Kenya. Many young and talented Kenyans have commenced learning these skills amid the thriving ties between Kenya and China. As the Chinese language and culture take roots in Kenya, Chinese companies have mushroomed significantly, creating opportunities for Kenyan youths. Kenyans with a sound grasp of the Chinese language are immensely benefitting from the emergence of Chinese-related job opportunities. Due to Sino-Kenya economic and political relations, language translators, scholarship opportunities, and multilateral companies' job opportunities have skyrocketed for Kenyan and Chinese nationals, most significantly in the tourism industry. Chinese hotels have expanded considerably in Kenya, mainly concentrated in Nairobi, providing an alternative food experience both in taste and price.

As China becomes a global economic and trade power, China's job market will attract more innovative international talents and that will contribute to China's economic growth and rich and diverse cultural system.

Building and strengthening an exchange program for the youth is a core idea for the Belt and Road Initiative. The One Belt One Road initiative acts as a platform for sharing knowledge, shared opportunity, strengthening trade and economic cooperation. Youth participation could highly facilitate innovative ideas in various industries across the world. Higher uptake of research and development by youths would translate to new ideas that would facilitate global interaction. Young people across the globe are the main bridge that will enhance people-to-people relationships that will facilitate research and exchange. In particular, young scholars have a chunk of role to play in strengthening people-to-people exchange among nations taking part in the building of the One Belt One Road. In so doing, the belt and road offer young people a platform for exchanging ideas across the globe and facilitating friendship through dialogue, demonstrating value, and realizing personal growth.   

建立和加强青年交流计划是“一带一路”倡议的核心理念。“一带一路”倡议是共享知识、共享机会、加强经贸合作的极好平台。青年的参与可以极大地促进世界各行业的创新理念。青年人对研究和发展的更多了解将转化为促进全球互动的新理念。全球的年轻人是实现民心相通的主要桥梁，这将促进研究和交流，特别是青年学者在加强“一带一路”建设中加强国民交流的作用。这样，“一带一路”为年轻人提供了一个平台，可以在全球范围内交换思想，通过对话促进友谊，展现价值，实现个人的不断成长。
