At the beginning of the New Year, everything changes.

On the occasion of these changes, we will not forget the past year when the 20th CPC National Congress was convened, depicting a grand blueprint for building a modern socialist country.

In the past year, facing a stormy international environment and arduous tasks of reform, development and stability at home, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping as the core, the whole Party and the people of all ethnic groups in China rose to the challenge and forged ahead. The quality of development was steadily improved, scientific and technological innovation was fruitful, reform and opening up were comprehensively deepened, and employment and prices were basically stable. Food security, energy security and people's livelihood were effectively ensured, and overall economic and social stability was maintained.

In the past year, we successfully hosted the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Beijing.

In the past year, with the progress of the Belt and Road Initiative, the material foundation of the China-Eurasia partnership network has been further consolidated, and the bilateral partnership between China and Eurasian countries has been comprehensively upgraded. China has signed cooperation documents on the Belt and Road Initiative with 21 Arab countries and the League of Arab States. Four Arab countries have announced that the Chinese language will be included in their national education systems, 15 Arab countries have opened Chinese language institutes, and 13 Arab countries have set up 20 Confucius Institutes and 2 independent Confucius Classrooms. 78 percent of young Arab people consider China as their partner. China has become “the most popular country in the Arab world”.

The Belt and Road Initiative has not only become a major strategic move for China to comprehensively deepen its reform and open wider to the west, but also a path of mutual benefit for more countries along the Belt and Road. As an important platform for international cooperation, the Belt and Road is playing an increasingly important role in promoting the building of a new type of international relations and a community with a shared future for mankind.

Looking ahead, the world is undergoing major adjustments and changes. Various security risks are intertwined, and geopolitical and security conflicts are becoming more prominent. China is closer to the center of the world stage than ever in history.

Looking into the future, we need to strengthen our political, ideological and action awareness in promoting high-quality Belt and Road development. Based on the new situation, we will implement the "Five Co-ordination " and work tirelessly to jointly build high-quality development along the Belt and Road. We will jointly build a path to security, improve the risk prevention and control system, and prevent and defuse risks in key areas. Also, we should jointly build a path to high-quality development, strengthen the foundation for development, and actively explore new areas of cooperation... There is a long way to go.

As participants and active practitioners of the Belt and Road Initiative, in the coming year, we must focus on the overall interests of the Party and the country, take the Belt and Road Initiative as a platform for practice, promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, and build the Belt and Road Initiative into a road of peace, prosperity, openness, innovation and civilization, to continuously enlarge the circle of common interests and actively expand new areas of cooperation.
