The "Belt and Road Initiative" has broadened our consensus on a community of shared    future for humanity.

In 2013, President Xi Jinping proposed the Belt and Road Initiative, a plan to promote global connectivity and achieve common development. That year, I had just completed my bachelor's degree and received a Beijing Municipal Scholarship to pursue my master's degree. I still remember the excitement we felt when we first heard about the Belt and Road Initiative. The initiative sparked in-depth discussions, leading many countries and people to reevaluate the great contributions and historical significance of the ancient Silk Road and to reach a broad consensus on the concept of a community of shared future for humanity. Today, the Belt and Road Initiative provides new development opportunities for more than 100 countries worldwide. Youth should continue to seize this moment to foster mutually beneficial cooperations.

Enhancing youth exchanges is an important task of the Belt and Road Initiative. Youth participation can greatly promote innovation in various industries worldwide. Young people are a vital force in achieving people-to-people connectivity under the Belt and Road Initiative. Thus, the initiative provides a broad platform for young people to exchange ideas, foster friendships, demonstrate their value, and achieve personal growth on a global scale.

The Belt and Road Initiative is a grand classroom.

I firmly believe that each of us is a teacher in our hearts, and we should be bridges between different cultures. With the development and growing influence of the Belt and Road Initiative, it is the responsibility of all countries, not just China, to embody social and cultural inclusivity and mutual learning. The world is a vast classroom with students from different ethnicities, beliefs, and skin colors. In this classroom called the Belt and Road, I hope the teachers continue to explore innovative ways to enable their "students" and "colleagues" to have better development.

I believe young people play an irreplaceable role in creating a peaceful and prosperous future. In this future, people, institutions, and countries have formed mutually beneficial connections based on trust. My 16 years of experience in China have taught me that despite cultural differences between individuals, our humanity connects us. All paths lead to a common future. That's why, regardless of our life directions or statuses, we need to think, speak, and act for common interests, building relationships based on love, respect, and trust.

My growth in China is credited to the Belt and Road Initiative.

My personal growth is largely attributed to the Belt and Road Initiative. I have witnessed significant changes, from increasing interactions with Chinese entrepreneurs to more open policies allowing African professionals to enter the Chinese market. On the occasion of celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, I encourage all young people to seize the opportunities provided by this initiative and carve out a creative path for themselves.

South African BBQ and Chinese Hotpot, cultural exchange and mutual learning

In South Africa, we have a rich culinary culture. "Shisanyama" (South African BBQ) is an essential part and medium of social gatherings. Here, we interact and enjoy each other's company. So, when I came to China, the first thing I did was to share a meal with my colleagues. My Chinese colleagues warmly introduced me to their version of "Shisanyama," which was my first experience with hotpot. It taught me that with different cultures, there is always something new to learn. Although different from "Shisanyama," I understood that the tradition of hotpot is a conduit for social connection. As I shared my first hotpot meal with my Chinese colleagues, I looked around the table and realized that we were all individuals striving to connect and grow together.

Cultural exchange and mutual learning are crucial in the modern world. They help humanity better understand each other and engage in matters that affect humanity. I am hopeful for the future and will continue to play a role as a bridge in media affairs between China and South Africa.

Over the past 20 years, doing business in China has become more convenient. I enjoy the life and family I have built in Beijing because the people here have been instrumental in my development. Through these amazing culinary exchanges, I not only share my knowledge but also become part of a collective learning experience for all participants.

In every dish, we blend elements of Chinese cuisine with Caribbean flavors, creating a unique fusion taste experience for our customers. I proudly showcase the diverse flavors of the Caribbean region.

I have learned that Chinese food has rich cultural and philosophical elements. From ingredient selection to pairing, from the cooking process to cooking methods, it greatly influences Chinese cuisine. The entire process of Chinese cooking embodies natural harmony and balance; it satisfies the taste buds while maintaining health.

General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized during his inspection at Tsinghua University that young people should shoulder the historical mission and strive to become the new generation capable of fulfilling the great responsibility of national rejuvenation. As participants and beneficiaries of the Belt and Road Initiative, the youth along the Silk Road should seize this opportunity, pursue higher aspirations and moral standards, cultivate their talents, bravely shoulder responsibilities, and become the youthful messengers of a community with a shared future for humanity. They should contribute to international exchange and cooperation, growing together with the great practice of the Belt and Road Initiative.
