"Silk Road Youth International Women's Day Seminar Held in Beijing"

Women radiant grace like the blossoming spring. On the afternoon of March 8th, the Silk Road International Women's Day Seminar was held at the China World Hotel. Female representatives from France, Germany, Egypt, Ghana, Jamaica, India, Gambia, Benin, Finland, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Dominica, Malawi, Lesotho, South Africa, the Philippines, Zambia, Maldives, and other countries gathered together with Chinese female representatives to honor the shared achievement of women globally.

The seminar was chaired by Ms. Dahlia A. Ducreay, Head of the International Department of the Silk Road Youth Forum. Hosted by the Silk Road International Think Tank Exchange Center.

The theme of the seminar was "Cultivating Resilience: Self-Confidence,Self-Empowerment,Self-Reliance,and Freedom".

Yang Dongping, H.E María Soledad Córdova(video), Zhang Lei, and Mdm. Nyima Jammeh Kinteh (video) delivered speeches in succession. In his speech, Yang Dongping, on behalf of the Silk Road Youth Forum, extended greetings and best wishes to female friends from various countries. He pointed out that the purpose of this seminar is to exchange and discuss the new opportunities for women's development in the new era, to help women become better builders of great careers, advocates of civilization, and visionary. The Silk Road Youth Forum will continue to pay attention to and safeguard the rights and interests of women in education, health, family, and labor, unite and lead women from various countries along the route to actively participate in China's high-quality construction of the "Belt and Road" eight actions, strengthen the exchange of information, experience sharing, and equal dialogue among women in poverty reduction, health, education, and other fields, promote the rights and interests of women in participating in the construction of the "Belt and Road" to be assured, life to be more enriching, and life to be happier, empowering women to thrive and succeed in the "Belt and Road"!

At the seminar, the delegates watched with profound respect a video of Ms. Isabel Crook, a recipient of the Friendship Medal of the People's Republic of China. As an international communist fighter, educator, anthropologist, pioneer of English teaching in New China, foreign expert at Beijing Foreign Studies University, and lifelong honorary professor, Isabel devoted her life to the development of rural China and education, leaving behind a great legacy. Her story deeply moved everyone.

During the seminar, representatives engaged in lively discussions around the topic of "The Role of Women in the Development of the 'Belt and Road' in the New Decade". Representatives expressed that in the face of pressure and challenges, women have their own resilience and unique charm, while facing opportunities and hopes, women have the will to strive and pursue a beautiful realm.

Finally, representatives shared their stories of "Women in the development of the 'Belt and Road'". With their observations, efforts, and perseverance, they expressed confidence in "cultivating resilience, showcasing self-empowerment". Mdm. Christiane Adovelande, Spouse of the Ambassador of the Embassy of the Republic of Benin to the People’s Republic of China, shared her extremely difficult experiences as a young mother and how she emerged from adversity to become who she is now. She said: "No one can anticipate difficult times, but they always appear in the lives of those with great destinies. In our life journey, we should be prepared for difficult times." She deeply moved and inspired the delegates, especially young women, with her story of discovering inner strength and true self through moments of challenge.

During the meeting, a cultural exchange activity was held. Students from the Beijing Fengtai Foreign Languages School demonstrated a  live traditional Chinese paper-cutting arts session. Their nimble movements, magical transformations, rich forms, and beautiful meanings aroused great interest and admiration from representatives of various countries. They picked up scissors one after another, imitating the art skillfully. The atmosphere on site was lively, and amidst laughter and joy, one could feel the richness and fun of Chinese folk culture.
