On the afternoon of July 31, youth representatives from Turkmenistan, Botswana, Cameroon, Guyana, and China gathered at the Silk Road International Think Tank to enthusiastically share and discuss their reflections on President Xi’s letter.

记住历史，守护和平 Remembering History, Safeguarding Peace

圭亚那青年代表那欣悦首先发言，她说，今年是世界反法西斯战争胜利80周年，习近平主席强调“和平的未来寄托在青年身上”。就是要我们铭记历史，共同守护来之不易的和平与发展成果。

Nazila Nichole Williams, a youth representative from Guyana, was the first to speak. She noted that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War. President Xi emphasized that “the future of peace lies in the hands of youth,” reminding us of the importance of remembering history and working together to safeguard the hard-won gains of peace and development.

她说，记住历史是为了理解和平的珍贵，避免悲剧重演。记住昨天，才能守护今天，开创和平明天。现在重要的是，把我们对和平的珍惜变成每天实实在在的行动。努力促进各国人民的相互理解，支持公平合作，推动共同进步。

She added that remembering history helps us recognize the value of peace and prevent the recurrence of past tragedies. Only by remembering yesterday can we safeguard today and build a peaceful tomorrow. What matters now is turning our appreciation for peace into concrete, everyday actions — fostering mutual understanding among nations, supporting equitable cooperation, and advancing common development.

Dahlia A. Ducreay (Aisha), Head of the International Department at the Silk Road Youth Forum, remarked that President Xi’s concept of a “community with a shared future for humanity” underscores that peace is the result of sustained, collective effort. Every generation has a role to play in safeguarding peace. She noted that the President’s letter deeply inspired young people, reminding them that the future of the world lies in their hands — and that they carry the responsibility to uphold peace, fairness, and sustainable development.

土库曼斯坦青年代表思宇表示，在习近平主席向世界青年和平大会的致信中，鼓励青年“做和平发展的行动者”，让我明白，和平和发展分不开，追求和平不是喊口号，它和我们每个人的未来、和世界的未来紧紧相连。

Garayev Seyitmuhammet, a youth representative from Turkmenistan, said that President Xi’s letter encourages young people to “be active participants in peaceful development,” helping him realize that peace and development are inseparable. Pursuing peace is not mere rhetoric; it is closely linked to the future of every individual and the world as a whole.

思宇认为，诸多全球性挑战，如气候危机、疾病防治、贫困消除等，单凭一个国家是难以解决的。各国唯有携手合作才能解决人类共同面临的问题。这是我们当代青年肩负的责任与机遇。

He noted that many global challenges—such as the climate crisis, disease control, and poverty eradication—cannot be resolved by any single country alone. Only through collaborative efforts can nations tackle these shared issues. This represents both the responsibility and opportunity for today’s youth.

中国石油大学（北京）国际教育学院来华留学生兼职辅导员韩俊雄表示，和平要从自己做起。为维护世界和平做出贡献。作为一名青年，生长在这片历经风雨但始终热爱和平的土地上，我对和平的珍贵有深刻的体会。今天的安定生活不是凭空而来的，是无数先辈前仆后继，用巨大牺牲换来的。

Han Junxiong, a part-time counselor for international students at China University of Petroleum (Beijing), said that peace starts with oneself and contributing to the maintenance of world peace. As a young person raised in a land that has weathered many hardships but has always cherished peace, he deeply appreciates its value. Today’s stability is not something that came easily—it was earned through the great sacrifices of countless predecessors.

重庆理工大学药学与生物工程学院执行院长谢晶说，我们要珍惜和平来之不易，要用行动践行守护和平发展的使命。

Xie Jing, Executive Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Bioengineering at Chongqing University of Technology, stated we must cherish the hard-earned peace and act to fulfill the mission of protecting peace and development.

丝路国际智库高级研究员季昌仁表示，习近平主席向世界青年和平大会的致信对青年寄予厚望，强调和平的未来寄托在青年身上。青年思想解放，热爱交流，充满激情和活力，勇于冲破各种思想的羁绊和历史隔阂，是世界人民心相通、民相亲的生力军，先锋队。青年一定能够在倡导和平理念、维护和平发展、构建人类命运共同体的伟大事业中发挥突出作用，贡献青春力量。

Ji Changren, senior researcher at the Silk Road International Think Tank, said that President Xi’s letter places great hopes on youth, emphasizing that the future of peace depends on them. Young people have open minds, a passion for communication, abundant energy, and the courage to break through ideological constraints and historical divides. They are the vital force and pioneers in fostering mutual understanding and closeness among peoples. Youth will undoubtedly play a leading role and contribute their drive in promoting the ideals of peace, sustaining peaceful development, and building a community with a shared future for humanity.

博茨瓦纳青年代表陶莎表示，习近平主席致世界青年和平大会的信，让我感受最深的是和平并非遥远的理想，而是在日常交往中建立，蕴含在生活细节中。习近平主席强调“和平的未来寄托在青年身上”。作为留学生，多元文化环境是和平实践场，我们应该主动交流、倾听对方想法。和平藏于友好对话和互相尊重中。我愿成为和平传递者，在留学生活中架起理解桥梁，成为习主席期望的和平发展的行动者。

Tshosa Eunice, a youth representative from Botswana, said that President Xi’s letter deeply impressed upon her that peace is not a distant ideal but is built through everyday interactions and found in life’s small details. President Xi emphasized that “the future of peace lies in the hands of youth.” As an international student, she sees the multicultural environment as a practical ground for peace, where we should actively communicate and listen to others’ perspectives. Peace is nurtured through friendly dialogue and mutual respect. She aspires to be a messenger of peace, building bridges of understanding during her studies abroad, and becoming an active promoter of peace development as envisioned by President Xi.

包容的心是和平最不能少的基础 A Heart of Inclusion Is the Essential Foundation of Peace

来自喀麦隆的青年代表鲁本表示，和平的世界，应该是不同的文化、不同的想法、不同的习惯，都能被理解、被包容、被尊重。

Tamo Kengne Ruben Mitherant, a Cameroon youth representative said that a peaceful world should be one where different cultures, ideas, and customs are understood, embraced, and respected.

我们要当理解和包容的实践者。相信世界因不同而美好，每种文化都有价值。和平的意思不是让大家都变的相同，而是大家不一样也能做朋友，彼此尊重。包容的心，是和平的基础。

We must be practitioners of understanding and tolerance. Believe that the world is beautiful because of its diversity, and every culture has its own value. Peace does not mean everyone becomes the same, but that people with differences can still be friends and show mutual respect. An inclusive heart is the foundation of peace.

丝路国际智库青年代表岳零然表示，习近平主席在致信中的精神体现了对青年在和平中作用的高度重视，为全球青年指明了方向。

Yue Lingran, youth representative of the Silk Road International Think Tank, said that President Xi’s letter reflects a strong emphasis on the role of youth in peace and provides clear guidance for young people worldwide.

“一带一路”倡议从理念转化为行动，成为国际合作实践。它跨越地域、文明和发展阶段，超越意识形态差异，为沿线国家搭建了对话平台。

The Belt and Road Initiative has transitioned from a concept to concrete action, becoming a model of international cooperation. It spans regions, civilizations, and stages of development, transcending ideological differences to establish a platform for dialogue among countries along the route.

丝路国际智库办公室主任刘丽超表示，学习习主席致信，深受触动，责任重大。信中强调青年在和平中的重要性。作为青年，我清楚的知道今天的安定源于先辈的牺牲。习主席提到反法西斯战争80周年，正是提醒我们铭记历史，和平来之不易，忘战必危。和平是理解、尊重与共同发展。习主席号召全球青年做和平倡导者和行动者，每个青年需从自身做起，理性沟通、自信表达。心中有和平理念，行动才有力量。

Liu Lichao, Office Manager of the Silk Road International Think Tank, said that studying President Xi’s letter deeply moved her and instilled a strong sense of responsibility. The letter emphasizes the crucial role of youth in peace. As a young person, she understands that today’s stability is the result of the sacrifices made by predecessors. President Xi’s mention of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Anti-Fascist War serves as a reminder to remember history—peace is hard-won, and forgetting war brings peril. Peace embodies understanding, respect, and shared development. President Xi calls on youth worldwide to be advocates and active participants in peace, starting with themselves, communicating rationally, and expressing themselves confidently. When peace is in the heart, actions gain strength.

Hao Yanling, representative of the Silk Road International Think Tank, said she feels fortunate to live in peaceful China. While the world still faces many challenges—such as unrest, war, conflict, climate change, poverty, inequality, and insecurity—everyone shares a common desire for peace, security, and development. China welcomes youth from around the globe with an open and inclusive attitude. Each gathering is an exchange of ideas, and every event strengthens friendship.

扛起青年民心相通友好往来的使命担当 Embracing the Responsibility to Deepen Youth Connections and Friendships

丝路青年论坛副主席兼秘书长杨东平在致辞中表示，丝路青年应该切实扛起青年民间友好组织在深化民心相通、夯实维护世界和平民意基础中的使命担当。首先，要坚持对话交流，推动文明互鉴：青年民间组织应积极搭建中外青年对话平台，通过“走出去、请进来”等多种形式，深化相互理解与情感认同，消除隔阂偏见。其次，践行全球倡议，贡献青春智慧：引导青年积极关注并参与全球发展倡议、全球安全倡议、全球文明倡议所倡导的实践，投身气候变化、减贫、和平安全等全球性议题的解决，成为推动构建人类命运共同体的生力军。同时，深化务实合作，共筑和平根基：依托“一带一路”框架下的青年合作机制，大力推动各国青年在科技创新、绿色发展、人文交流等领域的项目对接与联合行动，将和平理念转化为具体合作成果。

Yang Dongping, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Silk Road Youth Forum, stated that Silk Road youth should actively embrace the mission of youth grassroots organizations to deepen people-to-people connections and strengthen the solid foundation of public support for world peace.

First, prioritize dialogue and exchange to promote mutual learning among civilizations: youth organizations should actively build platforms for dialogue between Chinese and international youth, using approaches such as “Outbound engagements” and “Inbound invitations” to deepen mutual understanding and emotional bonds, while breaking down barriers and prejudices.

Second, implement global initiatives and contribute youthful wisdom: guide youth to actively participate in global development, security, and civilization initiatives, dedicate themselves to addressing global challenges such as climate change, poverty alleviation, and peace and security, thereby becoming a driving force in building a community with a shared future for humanity.

Third, deepen pragmatic cooperation and lay a foundation for peace: leveraging youth cooperation mechanisms under the Belt and Road framework, vigorously promote project coordination and joint actions among youth from different countries in areas such as technological innovation, green development, and cultural exchange, transforming the concept of peace into tangible cooperative achievements.

Zhang Yibo, Head of the Silk Road International Think Tank Media Center, said that reading President Xi’s letter deeply inspired her as a youth worker involved in Silk Road youth affairs. President Xi’s emphasis that “the future of peace lies in the hands of youth” provides clear guidance. The Silk Road Youth Forum has long been committed to promoting exchanges and cooperation among youth from countries along the Silk Road, building bridges of dialogue through various initiatives. The letter strengthened her conviction that these efforts are not only vital for enhancing mutual understanding and friendship among youth from different nations but also for contributing youthful energy to the development of a community with a shared future for humanity.

Luo Jing, secretary of the Silk Road International Think Tank, said that in today’s world marked by frequent geopolitical conflicts and rising technological risks, our generation of youth must take on the important responsibility of promoting peaceful development.

Be defenders of world peace: actively participate in international youth exchanges, eliminate cultural prejudices through dialogue, enhance mutual understanding, and achieve harmonious coexistence.

Be pioneers of intercultural mutual learning: use short videos to showcase the unique cultural charm of each country.

Be advocates of win-win cooperation: ensure every cooperation and exchange is mutually beneficial, allowing all parties to gain and share success.

Be agents of climate action: begin low-carbon practices starting from oneself and everyday actions.

Be promoters of technology for good: leverage artificial intelligence to creatively and positively tell the stories of the Silk Road, China, and world peace.

Hu Qiao, a youth representative said that in a world undergoing changes unseen in a century, we must embrace multiculturalism with an open mind. Looking ahead, we hope to embody the spirit of President Xi’s letter through our actions: to be promoters of peace by eliminating prejudice through cross-cultural dialogue; pragmatic collaborators using our expertise to strengthen people-to-people connections along the Belt and Road; and drivers of innovative development, applying the wisdom of youth to address global challenges, writing a chapter of peace that belongs to our generation on the path to building a community with a shared future for humanity.

最后，与会青年集体合唱《明天会更好+We are the world》，充满青春气息的嘹亮歌声表达了让世界更美好的愿望和坚定信念。

In conclusion, the youth joined together in a spirited performance of 《Tomorrow Will Be Better + We Are the World》, their vibrant voices expressing heartfelt hopes and strong convictions for a better world.
